Category: Literature ReviewHow to choose papers which are appropriate according to my study.

I don’t know this question is right or not to ask here, but I really want to know that on what basis I should choose the papers while writing the literature review chapter. If I have two papers with almost similar content then, which one should I cite? The latest one or the Older one?
Please help.

You should select a paper keeping in mind that whether it will fill the research gap or not.

Prefer selecting a literature review so that it can add some value to your work. It’s very much ok to cite more than 2 paper in your study, if you think it is serving the purpose. But, If you want to keep your paper short then, you have to do some editings and have to make some choices.

I would prefer choosing a work of literature on the basis of:
1. Relevance to my issue
2. How recent is it
3. The number of citations it has had
4. The journal it was published in
5. The Authors

I think you should decide on the basis of the reputation of the authors rather than, the older and the lastest one. Quote the one who has a better reputation. The citation from a better Journal is always better.
