Are there recommended sources on Serbian paramilitaries in the 1990s conflicts?

I’m finalizing a literature review for my dissertation on non-state actors in post-Cold War ethnic conflicts. I’ve covered the official military narratives, but the paramilitary phenomenon remains fragmented in my sources. I’m looking for authoritative works—both primary and analytical—to solidify this crucial chapter and ensure my analysis is grounded in the most rigorous evidence available.

Based on my research, I would recommend starting with a two-track approach. For scholarly analysis, works by historians like James Gow and Sabrina Ramet provide crucial context, while journal articles in "Europe-Asia Studies" often delve into specifics. For primary sources, I have seen the most value in ICTY trial transcripts and indictments, which are meticulously documented. They are challenging but irreplaceable. I'd also recommend seeking out documentary films from the era, like "The Death of Yugoslavia," for contemporaneous footage and interviews, which add a critical dimension to the paper trail.
