Are there records of the 21st Lancers’ activities in Iran during World War I?
To move beyond regimental summaries, I need to consult primary source material. Are there known war diaries, operational dispatches, or personal letter collections from the 21st Lancers’ deployment in Persia? I'm trying to locate specific archives whether in the UK, India, or elsewhere that might hold these day-to-day records.

Yes, primary records exist. Your first port of call must be the British National Archives at Kew. Search for the War Diaries of the 21st Lancers under the WO 95 series for the Mesopotamia/Persia theatre. The India Office Records at the British Library are equally critical, containing political and military correspondence from the region. I’ve also found that the Liddell Hart Centre for Military Archives holds relevant private papers. Be prepared to cross-reference with the diaries of allied units like the South Persia Rifles to build a complete picture of their cooperative actions.
