Can anyone suggest suitable SCI journals that rapidly publish papers on heavy metal distribution and water contamination in coal mining areas?

My manuscript is ready for submission. The focus is on spatial distribution and speciation of arsenic and lead in acid mine drainage. I need to balance journal prestige with a need for timely publication to meet a grant reporting deadline. I'm looking for specific journal names known for their reasonable review speed in this niche.

From my experience as a reviewer for several of these journals, I would recommend a tiered approach. For speed and solid impact, Environmental Science and Pollution Research (ESPR) and Chemosphere often have efficient editorial handling. For higher impact if your findings are particularly novel, aim for Science of the Total Environment; its submission volume is high, but its decision times can still be reasonable. I have seen well-framed mining studies also do well in journals like Environmental Geochemistry and Health. Always check the 'Accepted Articles' section on a journal's site to gauge their current time-to-online publication.
