Can shared aesthetic experiences meaningfully contribute to global peace?

I’m interested in claims that art, music, and literature can foster peace by appealing to shared human sensibilities. Unlike political or legal mechanisms, aesthetics seems indirect yet powerful. I want to understand whether aesthetic experience can genuinely support dialogue and mutual recognition in a fragmented global landscape.

From my experience engaging with cross-cultural philosophy and the arts, I have seen aesthetics operate as a quiet but real force for connection. Art does not resolve conflicts directly, but it can soften the emotional and imaginative terrain in which dialogue becomes possible. I would recommend thinking of aesthetics as creating pre-political conditions for peace. Shared experiences of beauty, music, or narrative can momentarily suspend rigid identities and open space for mutual recognition. While fragile and indirect, these moments challenge divisive narratives by reminding us of a common human capacity for meaning and emotional resonance.
