Determining Responsibility for Moral Actions and Outcomes

How do we really determine responsibility? It seems tied to our ability to intend, reason, and make choices, but ethical and legal systems also look at causality, knowledge, and whether actions were voluntary. How do we assign responsibility not just to individuals, but to groups or entire systems? What are the challenges in understanding accountability and liability in these broader contexts?

Responsibility is attributed to moral agents capable of intention and reasoning. It involves assessing causality, knowledge, and choice. Legal and social frameworks evaluate fault or negligence, and responsibility may extend to collectives or systems. Philosophical analysis clarifies these distinctions and guides ethical judgment in assigning accountability.
