Does nigeria actually enforce court orders on oil pollution?

I've read that communities in the Niger Delta win court cases against oil companies—but nothing changes. Is there actual evidence that these judgments are ignored?

Yes, the evidence is overwhelming and well-documented. Amnesty International, Environmental Rights Action (ERA), and local Nigerian NGOs have published repeated reports detailing how court orders for cleanup, compensation, and remediation are routinely disregarded by both the government and oil companies. Judgments exist. Liability is established. But no one pays, no one cleans, and no one is held in contempt. The gap between legal victory and tangible remediation defines the crisis. It's not a failure of law it's a failure of enforcement.
