Does true Artificial Intelligence exist today?

It depends on the definition. If "AI" means machines performing specific cognitive tasks (like language translation or image recognition), then yes, it exists as "Narrow AI." If it means a system with general, human-like consciousness and understanding, then no. The term is widely applied to current technology, but these systems are sophisticated pattern-matching tools, not sentient beings. The debate is philosophical: true "intelligence" may require subjective experience, which no machine possesses. Thus, AI exists as a powerful tool, but not as an autonomous, general intelligence.
