From my experience observing smart city pilots, Industry 4.0 technologies become powerful when applied purposefully. I have seen IoT, AI, and data analytics optimize energy grids, mobility systems, and waste management in ways that directly reduce emissions and costs. What I would recommend is aligning these technologies with local economic priorities so innovation creates jobs, improves service delivery, and supports green entrepreneurship. Without that alignment, digital cities risk becoming technologically advanced but socially or economically disconnected.
