How can the validity and reliability of the findings from a VOSviewer-based bibliometric study be ensured and discussed?

While VOSviewer provides powerful visualizations, my advisor and I often discuss how the perceived "objectivity" of maps can be misleading. I'm concerned about moving beyond just presenting the software's output. In the discussion and limitations sections, how should we actively engage with the robustness of our findings? What specific strategies convince readers that the patterns are meaningful and not artifacts of our data or settings?

I always stress that validity starts before opening VOSviewer with a defensible, replicable data corpus. To ensure reliability, I would recommend conducting sensitivity analyses see how your maps change with different parameter settings. In your discussion, directly acknowledge these choices as interpretive boundaries. Furthermore, triangulate your visual findings with other metrics, like citation counts or qualitative thematic analysis from key papers. Ultimately, you must argue why the visualized structures are intellectually significant, not just computationally possible. The software reveals patterns; your scholarly argument establishes their meaning.
