How do i choose the optimum switching frequency for a 2-level inverter?

I'm designing a 2-level inverter. Higher switching frequency shrinks the filter but increases losses. How do I find the sweet spot?

It's a trade-off, and you have to plot it. Perform a loss analysis for your specific IGBTs: conduction losses (fixed) + switching losses (increase with f_sw). Plot total loss vs. frequency. Then overlay filter size/cost (which decreases with f_sw). The "optimum" is often the lowest frequency that meets your THD standards with an acceptable filter size—because that maximizes efficiency. The crossover where loss starts climbing steeply is usually your upper bound. Let the data decide.
