How the concept of a Christian worldview has evolved historically, and what its primary intellectual and cultural influences are today?

In my research on faith and culture, I'm trying to map the significant philosophical shifts in how the Christian framework is understood. This isn't just about theology, but how it interacts with broader intellectual currents. I need a clear view of its formative influences to contextualize contemporary debates.

In my experience studying the history of ideas, I’ve seen this evolution move from a predominantly medieval, scholastic synthesis to a more fragmented engagement post-Enlightenment. Initially, it was a totalizing framework for all knowledge. Today, its primary influences are a dialogue and often a tension with scientific naturalism, secular humanism, and postmodern critiques of meta-narratives. I would recommend looking at key pivot points like the Reformation and the rise of modern science to understand this shift. It’s now less a monolithic given and more a consciously held position among competing options.
