How to manage my References for Literature Review?
6 years ago in Dissertation/Thesis , Literature Review , Research Writing , Thesis/Dissertation Chapters By Sonali Jain
I collected a lot of literature over the last 6 months. And I have already started writing the literature review for my thesis on Word as I don’t want to rush my work later. But the no. of files are like enormous and it’s getting difficult for me to keep a track of it. Though I have read most of it & categorized it, still my laptop is overflowing with files. Is there any way I can manage the papers that I am referring in the thesis and use it at a later point of time. I am not yet sure what citation style is to be used, so I want skip this part & do it at last when I am 100% sure on it. Please help!

Hi! Try watching this video and quickly learn how to add citations & references in word. You can even change the referencing style as you wish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnVq_BpwP2E Earlier I was unaware of this feature and wasted a lot of my time manually inserting each of the citations in my LR, repeatedly adjusting how it looked and in going back and forth to insert the references in the bibliography. I am sure many of u can relate with me on this. After learning how to do it on word, my life has become so much easier. Now, I can do it pretty quickly. I am sure this will help u too.. Good luck!

I completely agree with the point on how each of us must have wasted time trying to beautify our reports at one point or other, doing multiple additions and subtractions. I would give you a fair warning that once you are done with the Literature Review, you are definitely going to face many more hurdles before you complete your thesis report. Apart from the References tab, MS word does have many more features that might come in handy. For instance, adding your Table of contents, list of figures/tables, Index, etc. can also be a pain at the end. The link below might prove to be helpful and give u some quick tips on making your report presentable. The Simple Guide to the Microsoft Word References Tab
