Is anyone currently conducting research on mother-tongue-based bilingual education, and what directions does this research take?

Mother-tongue-based bilingual education is widely discussed in policy and research. I’m interested in knowing whether active research studies are examining its impact and implementation. This question is relevant for language policy and inclusive education.

From my experience, research on mother-tongue-based bilingual education is very active, particularly in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. I have seen studies examining literacy outcomes, identity development, and transition to second languages. I would recommend looking at longitudinal and classroom-based research rather than policy reports alone. The evidence increasingly shows that strong mother-tongue foundations support both equity and long-term academic success.
