Is ISABB Journal of Health and Environmental Science a predatory journal?

As an early-career researcher, I'm acutely aware of the damage publishing in a predatory journal can do to my credibility. I've checked and it's not in Beall's old list, but that's not definitive. I need a trusted, step-by-step checklist to vet this journal myself, looking beyond the surface at indexing, editorial practices, and operational transparency.

This is a critical skill. From my experience on editorial boards, I recommend this concrete vetting sequence. First, check true indexing: search for the journal in the Clarivate Master Journal List (for Web of Science) or Scopus Source Title list, not just on a publisher's site. Second, investigate the editorial board: are members from reputable institutions, and can you verify their affiliation? Email one to ask about their role. Third, analyze the peer review process: legitimate journals describe it clearly, including typical review time. Finally, look at the article processing charge (APC): is it only mentioned after acceptance, and is it suspiciously low or high? If any of these raise red flags, walk away
