Relevance of emotional branding across product segments ?

Is emotional branding actually important for all types of products, or does its relevance depend on the kind of product being sold?

Emotional branding isn’t equally effective across all products. It works best for high-involvement and lifestyle brands, while low-involvement, commoditized products are driven more by price and functional benefits.

I agree, and to add nuance: even in low-involvement categories, emotional cues can still matter in subtle ways. For example, packaging design, brand storytelling, or social responsibility messages can influence perception without affecting functional utility. So while price and function dominate, emotions aren’t entirely irrelevant—they just play a supporting role.
