What does a typical medical school curriculum look like, and what core components should be considered?

Medical education is often described as intensive and highly structured. I’m interested in the major components that shape a medical curriculum. This question is relevant for comparative curriculum studies and professional education design.

From my experience, medical curricula are built around a progression from foundational sciences to clinical application. I have seen strong programs integrate basic sciences, clinical rotations, ethics, communication, and assessment of competencies. I would recommend viewing the medical curriculum as an integrated system rather than separate subjects. The most effective curricula connect theory to practice early and emphasize professional identity, patient safety, and lifelong learning.
