Are all eligibility criteria (inclusion/exclusion) defined with detail sufficient for replication?

My supervisor says my draft criteria are too vague (e.g., "relevant studies"). As a researcher aiming for publication, I understand replicability is key. I need practical guidance on moving from broad concepts to operational, decision-ready criteria that leave no room for ambiguity during the screening phase.

The leap from a broad concept to an operational criterion is the mark of an experienced reviewer. Instead of "relevant studies," specify: "Peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings published 2010-2024, in English, that explicitly describe an implementation framework for digital health tools in primary care contexts." I would recommend you pilot-test your criteria on 50-100 abstracts with a co-reviewer. I have seen this expose ambiguity instantly. The goal is that a perfect stranger could apply your criteria and make the same screening decisions you did.
