Are there studies or scholars focusing on hydrology’s modern history?
My research involves the shift to computational modeling in the late 20th century. While I have the classic texts, I'm concerned I'm missing newer, critical scholarship that examines this period. Are there specific historians or sociologists of science currently producing work on hydrology's recent professional and technological transformation?

Absolutely. The modern period is gaining excellent scholarly attention. I would recommend following the work of Tiago Saraiva on the environmental history of technology, which often intersects with water. For institutional and political angles, look at the publications of Martin Mahony and the late Jerry Burch. Also, search for the “Hydronarratives” project and related workshops, which directly foster this subfield. In my experience, the journals Environment and History and Social Studies of Science are where you’ll find the most rigorous interdisciplinary critiques of hydrology's recent paradigm shifts.
