Can sociology legitimately be considered a science, and on what basis?

Debates about sociology’s scientific standing remain common.Critics point to subjectivity, while proponents emphasize rigor.I’m seeking a reasoned assessment grounded in practice.

From my experience, sociology clearly qualifies as a science, though its objects of study are more complex than those of the natural sciences. I have seen sociologists apply systematic methods, theory testing, and empirical verification with considerable rigor. I would recommend evaluating sociology by its methodological transparency and explanatory power rather than by unrealistic expectations of prediction or certainty.
