Do students have a meaningful role in the development of their college-level curriculum?
Universities increasingly emphasize shared governance and student voice. I’m interested in whether student involvement improves curriculum relevance and engagement. This question is central to democratic practices in higher education.

From my experience, students play an important but bounded role in college curriculum development. I have seen their feedback improve relevance, sequencing, and assessment clarity. I would recommend involving students in review panels, pilot evaluations, and needs assessments rather than core content decisions. This preserves disciplinary integrity while ensuring curricula remain responsive to learner experiences.
