Empirical paper and Review paper

6 years ago in Review Paper By Priyanshu Rathore

Hi, I have just started my PhD. I want to start a research on strategic management planning based on ecosystem- A new innovative study. I discussed my topic with my mentor and he suggested me that review paper would be more effective and interesting for this type of research.
Here comes the problem, I have a detailed idea about the empirical paper but no idea about review paper and the difference between them. Please help me with this by sharing some links or papers.

The objective of a review paper is to review recent progress on a particular topic. Ultimately, the paper outlines the present condition of learning of the topic. It makes an understanding of the topic for the person who is reading it, by talking about the discoveries displayed in late research papers. A review paper isn’t a “research paper” or book report. Instead, a review paper synthesizes the results from several primary literature papers to produce a coherent argument about a topic or focused description of a field.

I think you need to have an idea about the format of a review paper. Here, is the link https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/economics/14-33-economics-research-and-communication-spring-2005/study-materials/gu_4_writ_emp_p1.pdf
