Has anyone developed an ontology of the state of exception?
This question arises from constitutional theory and philosophy. Emergency powers blur normal legal categories. I want a conceptual mapping.

From my experience, Giorgio Agamben comes closest to offering an ontology of the state of exception. I have seen his work frame it as a legal vacuum where law and power overlap. While controversial, it provides a useful analytical lens. I would recommend reading it alongside more institutional approaches to avoid treating the exception as purely abstract or metaphysical.
