How can Segmented Discourse Representation Theory (SDRT) be applied in literary criticism?

SDRT is widely used in linguistics and discourse analysis. Its application to literature seems less common and more complex.I want to know whether it offers real interpretive value for literary texts.

From my experience engaging interdisciplinary methods, SDRT can be productive when used selectively. I have seen it illuminate coherence, shifts in perspective, and implicit relations between narrative segments. I would recommend avoiding total formalization of literary texts, as that often flattens interpretation. Used as a heuristic rather than a rigid model, SDRT can sharpen close reading while still respecting literary ambiguity and aesthetic complexity.
