How does the us handle electronic evidence, and what about the rest of the g7?

I'm trying to understand how different countries treat digital evidence. Is the US common law or civil law on this? And do other G7 countries even have specific laws for electronic evidence?

The US is common law evidence rules come from centuries of case law, now codified in the Federal Rules of Evidence. All G7 countries recognize electronic evidence, but the frameworks differ. The UK and Canada (common law) rely on judicial discretion and authentication standards. Germany and France (civil law) have codified procedural codes that now explicitly address digital records. Japan mixes both traditions. Same problem, different toolkits.
