It can create real, structural strain. Mandatory secrecy isn't just about not discussing work it walls off a huge part of daily life. The non-cleared partner may feel shut out, unable to share burdens or even understand why their spouse is exhausted or distant. This can lead to emotional isolation, mistrust, and resentment if not actively managed. The key isn't breaking secrecy it's open communication about the existence of the barrier, building trust around the fact that the silence isn't personal. It's professional. But that distinction takes work.
