Is the traditional association of pink with girls and blue with boys still socially appropriate today?

Color symbolism has long been linked to gender norms.Social attitudes toward gender expression are changing rapidly.I want to understand how scholars interpret this shift.

From my experience studying cultural norms, this color association is increasingly viewed as outdated rather than inappropriate. I have seen research show that such norms are historically contingent, not natural. I would recommend understanding these associations as social conventions that are now being questioned, especially by younger generations. Their decline reflects broader shifts toward flexible gender expression rather than a simple reversal of norms.
