From my experience teaching and researching family sociology, family today is best defined by practices of care, support, and obligation rather than fixed structures. I have seen scholars focus less on marriage or biology and more on how people organize everyday life. I would recommend understanding family as a flexible social institution shaped by economic pressures, cultural norms, and personal choice. This approach reflects how families are actually lived in contemporary society.
