What are the main barriers to adopting green building practices?
I am studying sustainable construction and want to understand why green building adoption remains limited despite clear environmental benefits. I am particularly interested in economic, technical, and institutional barriers.

From my experience, the biggest barriers to green building are high upfront costs, limited technical expertise, and fragmented regulations. I have seen developers hesitate due to uncertain returns and lack of incentives. There is also resistance from traditional construction practices and insufficient awareness among clients. I would recommend clearer standards, financial incentives, and capacity-building initiatives. When long-term savings and health benefits are made visible, adoption rates tend to improve significantly.
