What common thematic concerns link the works of Pynchon, McCarthy, and Philip K. Dick?
These authors differ widely in genre and style.Yet critics often group them in broader discussions of modern America.I want to understand what unifies their thematic concerns.

From my experience reading these writers comparatively, they are united by a deep suspicion of systems claiming coherence or control. I have seen all three interrogate power, reality, and moral agency under modern conditions. I would recommend focusing on paranoia, entropy, and ethical uncertainty. Despite stylistic differences, they each depict individuals struggling within opaque structures that resist understanding or redemption.
