What points and areas need to be covered in the extended version of conference proceedings?

3 years ago in Conferences , Manuscript By Taylor

Hello researchers and experts, I have an urgent question as I am running short on time. I presented my conference paper in one of the high level conferences that is held in Athens. A month ago I got an invitation from their end saying my paper has been accepted and that I need to send them the extended version of it.

However, I am not sure what exactly I need to add. It is going to be published in the yearly book published by the conference and I want it to be perfect.

Though I have studied it, there is nothing wrong in getting a second opinion, is there?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Taylor, can you please explain what exactly your question is? Because if this is about format and areas that need to be covered in the proceeding, then I am pretty sure that the internet will have the answer. Moreover, it depends on the guidelines as well

Hello Dear, first of congratulations on getting your proceeding selected. I know it is a really great feeling through experience. As for the extended version, I am not too sure if the guidelines for the conference paper’s extended version remain the same in different countries or so but I think most of the points are general. So, I am stating a few points which I followed for my conference proceedings presented in Thailand.   The extended paper should be inclined with the paper presented. The changes need to be made in terms of editorial perspective.  The technical updates should be added as well as the things should be clearer as you won’t be able to explain it verbally. The suggestions (as suggested by others in the conference) should also be followed. In terms of content extension, it should be up to 30% ( at least it was for the IEEE ICIRD). The reason, methods and concl;usions should remain the same, however the title can be changed. If there were more authors in the paper, then you can decide the order in which the names appear, you can change it but the names should not be removed. Your conference proceeding will be included in the reference citation for the extended version. It is required to submit the conference proceeding’s copy with the extended version.   I hope these points help you in understanding the process. Also, all the best.

Hi Omar, thank you so much for the congratulations and the pointers. I also feel that the guidelines should be general. However, did you get these guidelines from the official site or did someone tell you? I want to know if I am the only researcher who has presented in a conference and still isn’t aware of everything.

Haha Don’t worry dear you are not the only one. I guess every researcher has some questions during the course of writing or publishing their research works. And it is better to ask then to regret. About guidelines, yes, you can have it from their official site or you can leave a query to them if they don’t have it provided because most conferences do provide the guidelines. I hope I have answered your question. Good Luck.

Hi @Omar, I am replying in a separate comment so that others can read the questions as well.   Am I supposed to send the same paper as I presented with some minor changes here and there? Am I supposed to add the updates and updated model design as available in today’s time in the old model and paper? Or do I need to prepare a completely new paper with some of the old paper as presented in the conference?   I presented my paper in an ATINER indexed conference. I can’t disclose the name as of now for certain reasons.
