Where can I find reliable molecular biology protocols for research?

When establishing a new technique in the lab, I find that online protocols can be inconsistent. For a junior researcher starting a project, where would you direct them to find reliable, step-by-step methodologies that the community considers the gold standard for techniques like cloning or protein purification?

I would always recommend starting with established, curator-reviewed repositories. I have seen too many projects delayed by flawed online forum protocols. My first stop is always Cold Spring Harbor Protocols; their peer-reviewed, detailed guides are invaluable. For foundational techniques, the manuals from key reagent manufacturers like NEB or QIAGEN are rigorously optimized. Finally, nothing replaces the lab’s own, internally validated protocol book. I advise new researchers to always cross-reference at least two authoritative sources before beginning.
