Which SCI journals rapidly publish papers on heavy metal distribution and contamination in water environments?

I have a completed study on lead and cadmium distribution in urban lake sediments. Given graduation and funding deadlines, I need to target journals with a credible peer-review process but also a reputation for not letting manuscripts languish for months in review. I want to avoid predatory outlets but also need a decision within a reasonable timeframe.

Balancing speed and reputation is a common challenge. From my experience publishing and reviewing in this niche, I would recommend three tiers. First, for the fastest reliable track, consider Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology it's concise, focused, and decisions are typically very swift. For a broader impact, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment and Chemosphere often have efficient handling. For top-tier but longer waits, Environmental Pollution and Science of The Total Environment are the gold standards, but their review can take 3-6 months. I have found that submitting a well-prepared manuscript that strictly follows the guide for authors significantly speeds up the process at any journal
