Why do new researchers sometimes experience non-responsiveness on ResearchGate?

Many early researchers post questions or requests without receiving replies. This can feel discouraging and opaque.I want to understand whether this is structural or personal.

From my experience using ResearchGate, non-responsiveness is usually structural rather than personal. I have seen senior scholars prioritize familiar networks, time-sensitive collaborations, or narrowly defined topics. I would recommend building a clear profile, asking focused questions, and engaging with others’ work first. Over time, visibility and reciprocity tend to increase responses more reliably than repeated posting alone.
