Why does the Romantic movement remain important, and how is it being reinterpreted today?
Romanticism is often framed as a historical reaction to Enlightenment rationalism.Yet it continues to influence literature, philosophy, and environmental thought.I want to understand why scholars keep returning to it and how interpretations have changed.

From my experience working with Romantic texts, their endurance comes from how directly they address questions of selfhood, creativity, and alienation that still matter today. I have seen recent scholarship move beyond viewing Romanticism as mere emotional excess, instead treating it as a serious critique of instrumental reason and early modernity. I would recommend reading Romanticism as an unfinished project, continually reactivated in debates about ecology, subjectivity, and resistance to purely technocratic worldviews.
