Is participatory healthcare just a buzzword, or does it actually work?
We keep hearing that patients should be "partners" in their care. Is this real, or just a nice idea that falls apart in practice?

It's real and it works, when supported. Reducing information asymmetry (patients knowing more, asking more) leads to better adherence and outcomes. But it requires health literacy (patients need to understand) and redesigned care models (providers need time to listen). When those pieces are in place, participatory healthcare transforms chronic disease management and prevention. It's not patients vs. providers. It's patients with providers. That shift changes everything.
