The Hunt for Modern Indian Children’s Literature in Regional Languages

I'm looking for good, contemporary children's stories and poems in Indian languages (like Marathi, Tamil, etc.) for kids under 13, published in the last 20 years. Does this even exist, or has it been swallowed by English?

It absolutely exists, but you have to know where to look, as it often flies under the national radar. Fantastic work is being done by mission-driven publishers like Pratham Books (they publish in many Indian languages), Tulika Publishers, and Ektara. The challenge isn't quality, but distribution and visibility—these books struggle against the massive commercial pull of English and digital entertainment. The stories are there; finding them consistently is the battle.
