Analysis

Hi, I am a PhD student and presently working on seismic behaviors of buildings. My university wants me to analyze the magnitude of the earthquakes taking data of previous ten years and wants a prediction of the magnitude for the upcoming years. I dont know how to do this type of analysis as I am from a different field. Can anyone suggest me how to perform this type of analysis?
