Correction in thesis! Please help

I was done with all of my work and submitted my thesis to my supervisor. I have now received some major feedback on my objectives, methods, results and conclusion. Needless to say that this brings me to square 1!

Honestly, my supervisor should have corrected the objectives at the beginning itself. And now when my entire work i.e., methods, analysis, results and discussion are dependent on them, he has pointed out several flaws in them, asking me to re-modify them. Even my literature review chapter will be changed with this. Its just unfair and simply mean! My entire time of these 3 years are wasted, and my PhD will be extended to I don’t know, maybe 4 or 5 years now.

I just wanted to share my troubles and any advices towards how I should approach this in order to avoid this situation in the future.

Hey, I know that correcting a dissertation or thesis is a monumental task, especially when you are unable to look at the weak points of your research! I corrected my thesis 3 times before it got published. I totally understand how frustrating it might get. I literally chased my supervisor in understanding the corrections to be made and how to go about it. I had a lot of one-to-one sessions with him, and while he was the one rejecting my work, the guidance provided by him was of great help. So I would suggest you to talk to your supervisor only. Understand the comments placed by him/her and discuss with him before working on the corrections. Lastly, PhD usually takes more than 3 years to complete, so just approach your thesis in a very relax manner. Once you are done, it will be worth it!

Why don’t you take help of a PhD research consultant and see what can be done within a short period of time. As your objectives are to be modified now, then it implies that you analysis and results will have to be altered as well. And if you are out of time, it’s better if you seek help of professionals and get the corrections done. I know of some editing services, as I got my manuscript edited a while back from Regent Editing. I am not so sure whether they correct a thesis or not, but you can give it a try.
