Difference between Qualitative and Quantitative Method

Hello
I am facing a lot of problems in the methodology part of my dissertation. I am very much confused between Qualitative and Quantitative method. Somebody, please tell me the difference between the two of them. My research is about human behaviour when introduced to a new product. I will look into how people will react when they are introduced to totally a new product. So, I am very uncertain about which method to use, Qualitative or Quantitative because i don’t have clarity between both of them.
So, please help me and suggest some links from where i can understand the difference between both of them. I really want to clear my doubt.

The methodology is the strategy you use in your research that gives direction to your research that how it should be done, the ways and methods to collect data. Qualitative method is exploratory kind of method, where you interpret and explore. Through this method you will easily understand the viewpoint of the people around. It will help you to look into the thoughts of the people. You can conduct interviews, observations, focused group discussions. Quantitative method basically is numerical data. It deals with numbers. It is used to quantify attitudes, opinions, and behaviors. According to your research topic, you need to talk to people and interpret their answers. So, I think, Qualitative method is suitable for your research type. After conductive Qualitative method, you will have an idea about the ideology of people about new products.

Research is the most widely used tool to increase and brush-up the stock of knowledge about something and someone. The qualitative research relies on verbal narrative like spoken or written data, the quantitative research uses logical or statistical observations to draw conclusions. In a qualitative research, only a few unrepresentative cases are used as a sample to develop an initial understanding. Unlike, quantitative research in which a sufficient number of representative cases are taken to consideration to recommend a final course of action. I also think Qualitative method is suitable for you as it will help you to get a particular number for your analysis.

You must consider that there are qualitative shades in the quantitative instrument, but they should not be confused with qualitative. In Qualitative research method space and actions are analyzed in the present time during the research, it is without structure, open, in search of unexpected options,. Whereas in quantitative research method the subject is not responsive but this is not a problem, closed structure, planned in advance. I think you should look into your paper with quantitative research method. As your paper is trying to understand the behaviour of people and also how new product affect people. So that means you are dealing with cause and effect relationship. I think you should make a questionnaire with close ended questions which means you will be framing question with answers in mcq form. Use can use Likert scales as well for better presentation of the questionnaires.
