Basically, a systematic review is a method used to represent trends in the research area by determining how many studies have used specific research methodologies, and where they were carried out etc. whereas a meta-analysis combines RESULTS from those studies in a new statistical framework to test hypotheses.

I must say that both methods can be used together, which leads to advantages to systematic reviews. I suggest starting with a systematic review and using your findings to develop hypotheses to test with the results.
