The working principle of solar power plant is simple. As sunlight falls on a solar cell,
a large number of photons will strike the p-type region of silicon.
The electron and hole pair will absorb the energy of photon and get separated.
Due to the action of electric field at the p-n junction, the electron travels from p-type region to n-type region.
Further the diode will be reversed biased to increase the electric field. So the current will start
to flow in the circuit for an individual solar cell. The current from all the individual cells are collected to obtain huge amount of solar power.
