Is there an easy way to develop research questions?
7 years ago in PhD Problem Statement , Proofreading , Quantitative analysis , Questionnaire Design By Sonali Jain
Hi. I wanna know is there any quick or easy way by which I can develop research questions? I want to do it really quick because my research proposal is due next week. I’m proposing to research on the impact of natural disasters on US economy. I have studied 46 research papers on it and have so many scattered ideas that I cannot streamline them and formulate research questions. So, can anyone help?

Go through this paper once. It contains useful information and concept of creating research questions using problematization methodology. https://wiki.aalto.fi/download/attachments/59573826/Alvesson-Sandberg2011-generating+research+questons.pdf

Actually there is only a single way to formulate research questions and that is to read, evaluate and create! The less you read and study literature, the less necessary information you can take out of it. So you need to be very much critical and careful while studying. Let us consider your situation. As you said, you have read 46 papers, it means you would have studied mainly 10-12 issues but you are satisfied with only 6-7. Then, you must research upon those issues at an advanced level to bring out the hidden loopholes. Once you get hands on those loopholes, you are done! All you have to do is to frame those issues in questions! Try doing this at once!

Your dispersed ideas must correlate with each other in a way that it is in the alignment of your research topic; address a logical and relevant question.
