ORCAD vs Eagle

I want to design a PCB. Which software should I use to design the PCB? ORCAD or Eagle? Both looks good. But which one is more reliable.

Eagle is a schematic board design tool that is recommended for designing of small scale PCBs. But if you are aiming to design a bit PCB it is better to go for other tools.

Well, I use ORCAD tool. It lets me design a new IC in the matter of few minutes. I have heard people complaining about the Eagle library. Looks like certain features are missing in the library.

Although Eagle is a free tool, it is not a very good tool. If you want a perfect PCB spend some money and go for ORCAD. This tool lets you place and edit components, edit and place wires, ports etc, has simulation properties, lets you add pin and component shape, defines layers surrounding footprint like solder mask, keepout etc.

Don’t go with both ORCAD and Eagle. When it comes to PCB design nothing can beat allegro. Allegro is the most suitable PCB layout software and consists of an integrated autorouter that lets you process high-speed signals. In the constraint manager, rules of electrical design can be assigned and managed such as pin-pair rules, special rules in defined areas and minimum, maximum and matched wire lengths.
