I think it all depends on your research topic. We can’t suggest you anything like this but make sure whichever method you choose discuss it with your supervisor.

Vivado is Xilinx’s next-generation replacement for ISE. It got released in 2012, and since 2013 there have been no new forms of ISE. You need to utilize Vivado in case you’re working with the 7-series FPGAs* or more up to date.

ISE/EDK are the old devices that are to be utilized for all Virtex-6 and for more old gadgets and that can be utilized for some little/average size Virtex-7 gadgets. Though, Vivado is the new instrument that only support Virtex-7, UltraScale and all later families. Xilinx expressly said that they won’t include support for more older FPGA families into Vivado. So despite everything you need to utilize ISE for them.

Xilinx ISE program is no longer used for Xilinx for new form. Be that as it may, Xilinx ISE program is as yet utilized for all Xilinx family FPGA. Vivado program is new form and upheld by Xilinx for new form. You can utilize only Artix 7, Virtex 7, Kintex 7 and another new series FPGA by Vivado. You can’t utilize Artix, Virtex, Kintex 3,4,5,6 series by Vivado. Vivado program is created for Implementation, Timing vb. So Vivado is superior to ISE, on the off chance that you don’t utilize Artix, Virtex, Kintex 3,4,5,6 series FPGA.
