PMU and state variables

My Research is into dynamic state estimation models in distributed power systems. Can anyone suggest me on the details of state variable and how this can be obtained in relation to the PMUs

PMU is basically referred to as synchrophasors that involves  synchronized voltage and current phasor measurements. As said, PMU will be installed in substations and they mainly aim at providing accurate measurement of frequency of the alternating current and voltage, and also produce the phasor representation of these signals defined with respect to the global clock. The phasor value depends on the state variables (voltage, frequency etc).
