R vs SAS. Which statistical software can be used for data analysis in the medical field?

Definitely SAS. This statistical tool will provide you with greater comprehensive when compared to that of the R language.

Although R language is more flexible when compared to SAS, it is better to use SAS for data analysis in the medical field.  The reason for this being the excellent data management feature of SAS and also it can be learnt every easily. But to work with R language,  one should have adequate knowledge regarding programming languages.

I would suggest you use the R language. It free. So you can give a try. If you are not comfortable with the R language only then switch to SAS.
