I have found SketchUp as a great software for modeling purpose.
It also lets you do a bit of drafting process.
There is an online database that lets you see what other SketchUp users have developed and
lets you download their own copy for reference. This saves your time that is spent on designing the model.

As per my opinion tinkercad is good. It lets you design complex design using pre-generated holes and shapes.

Go with sketchup. Simplicity is the key feature of this software. Also it has intuitive button design or layout.
Push and pull tool lets you create 3D or 2D very easily. Complex 3D designs can be made easily using the set of tools available in the tool box.
