What kinds of academic studies have looked into violence against Dalit women in Maharashtra?

I’m exploring this topic from a social justice and research perspective.Maharashtra has a distinct political and caste history worth examining.I want to understand how scholars have framed and studied this issue.

From my experience reading and engaging with this literature, much of the research comes from sociology, feminist studies, and legal scholarship. I have seen ethnographic fieldwork, case-law analysis, and NGO-linked reports that document patterns of violence and institutional failure. I would recommend starting with journals on caste, gender, and South Asian studies, where scholars situate these atrocities within structural inequality rather than isolated incidents. The strongest work combines empirical data with grounded narratives.
