Substantive editing is superior of all forms of editing. It gives your thesis a polish look. Some of the benefits of performing substantive editing are: 1.It checks if your thesis addresses any kind of issues with the contents. 2.Ensures that the information provided in your thesis is complete. 3.Overviews each chapter and provides a high-level summary of the chapters and texts.

Substantive editing investigates if the information and the sentences are well structured, precise and are easy to find, read and are genuine. Ensures all the paragraphs are complete and transitions between chapters are smooth. It ensures that no content/ ideas are repeated or is missing. It also ensures that the relationship between crucial points are clear and the quotation included support the arguments effectively.

Most importantly substantive editing checks for writing style. It checks if the tone and style of the information are appropriate and if the writer has used consistent terminology. It also thoroughly checks if the lists are parallel, punctuations are correctly placed, the pages are numbered, and apt bullets are used as per the target journal.

If you are not aware of this process, do not try editing and mess up your thesis. Take help from the professional editors. https://www.editingproofreading.com.my/phd-thesis-editing.php, https://www.chanakya-research.com/.
